Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician to provide pharmacy support services at a secure correctional healthcare facility in Pollock, Louisiana.

The Pharmacy Technician will assist with medication preparation, inventory management, prescription processing, unit-dose packaging, and general pharmacy operations while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

The role involves supporting healthcare services for an adult correctional population and requires professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret prescriptions and medication orders provided by medical staff.
• Select and retrieve medications accurately.
• Prepare prescriptions for pharmacist review prior to dispensing.
• Provide appropriate patient medication instructions when required.
• Maintain medication and medical supply inventories.
• Prepare inventory documentation and replenishment requests.
• Identify and remove outdated or expired medication stock.
• Prepare pharmaceutical supply lists and orders.
• Maintain pharmacy cleanliness, organization, and appropriate stock levels.
• Maintain required pharmacy forms and supplies.
• Operate Omnicell automated medication packaging equipment .
• Package bulk medications into properly labeled unit-dose packages.
• Assist with packaging and labeling prescriptions for remote pharmacy lock boxes.
• Process return-to-stock medication shipments.
• Restock medications and supplies as needed.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and facility procedures.
• Maintain a professional and safety-conscious environment while working within a correctional healthcare setting.

Work Environment

This position is based at a secure correctional healthcare facility serving an adult incarcerated population. Candidates should be comfortable working in a structured, security-conscious healthcare environment and following facility protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Ability to accurately interpret medication orders and prescriptions.
• Experience with medication preparation, packaging, inventory, and pharmacy operations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a controlled healthcare environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a hospital, institutional, correctional, retail, or long-term-care pharmacy environment.
• Experience with Omnicell or automated medication dispensing/packaging systems .
• Experience with unit-dose packaging and medication inventory management.

Compensation

$19.00 $23.00 per hour , depending on qualifications and experience.
